June 26, 2026

On June 26, we unveiled the two newest features in the Dental Intelligence lineup to a select group of users. In the coming weeks, they’ll be available to every DI practice. Here’s what they are and why we think you’ll want in.

Explorer: Ask your practice anything

You already have dashboards, reports, and scorecards. You have mountains of data. But do you have the spare hours to dig through all of it, or someone on staff whose whole job is number crunching? Probably not, which means it just sits there, and the questions that could actually help your practice stay unasked.

Explorer fixes that by being an Analyst and Strategist in one package. It's a conversational AI assistant built inside Dental Intelligence, and the only expertise you need is the ability to ask a question.

"Why was production down last month?"

"Which patients have the most unscheduled treatment?"

"What are my top 20 billing codes?"

Type anything like that into Explorer, and seconds later, you'll get a clear answer. You don't have to run any reports or decipher any spreadsheets. And you definitely don't have to copy and paste potential PHI into an outside platform. Everything stays safe, secure, and in the Dental Intelligence ecosystem you're already accustomed to.

But fast, safe answers aren't enough on their own. Once you have those answers, Explorer will build the thing you were going to spend the next hour creating. A brief for the doctor. An email to the team. Key insights for tomorrow's morning huddle. All you have to do is ask. Explorer creates it, you review, and suddenly you have control over your day again.

As Shaun Schweitzer, Director of Marketing at Absolute Dental, said during DI Reveal Day, "At the end of the day, I think most of our practices want to focus on that patient experience, and we want most of our effort every day focused on delivering that exceptional patient experience. This accelerates where I need to go and what direction and actions I needed to take, but it also then frees up more time to focus on providing that exceptional patient experience."

It works with one location, or a hundred, so organizations of any size can enjoy it. Smaller practices finally get expert-level analysis on demand, and DSOs can eliminate the constant data bottleneck. Which brings us to the next big reveal...

AI Receptionist: Never miss another call

Almost half of calls to dental practices come in outside of business hours, and 78% of patients won't bother leaving a voicemail. Instead, they'll hang up and call the next practice (or worse, give up on getting the care they need). And if a new patient is worth $10k in lifetime value, that's an enormous sum lost to the voicemail money pit.

AI Receptionist answers those calls. All of them, around the clock, in the caller's preferred language, and with a voice that sounds like a person and not a phone tree.

Let's say it's Saturday night, and a patient calls, worried about a charge on her statement. AI Receptionist picks up right away. It confirms her identity with a secure one-time PIN, and pulls up her account. It tells her exactly what she owes, and offers to text a payment link right then from Dental Intelligence Payments.

On Monday morning, there's a clean summary waiting in your inbox of who called, what they needed, and what got handled. You don't have to chase the patient down and play phone tag — AI Receptionist handled it while you and your staff were watching TV or at your kid's baseball game.

This isn't built to replace your front desk. It’s built to help your team help your patients, no matter the time of day by covering the hours and moments your people can't. And when every call gets a full summary and transcript, you maintain full visibility of everything that matters in a single, unified location.

And like Explorer, it can scale big or small. Local practices get the after-hours coverage they've always wanted, and groups get every location answered to the same standard, in multiple languages.

Built for smart security

Both Explorer and AI Receptionist live inside Dental Intelligence and run on your own data, so patient information never leaves the platform, and both are fully HIPAA and SOC 2 Type 2 compliant. That stands in sharp contrast to the growing habit of passing patient data into a general-purpose AI like GPT or Claude, or routing after-hours calls through a stranger with no connection to your practice.

AI Receptionist verifies a patient's identity before it shares anything sensitive. Explorer never asks you to export or upload anything to a new system. It's the convenience of AI without having to bet your patients' privacy (and your liability) to get it.

If you're ready to see either one in action, schedule a demo and we'll show you exactly what it's like to ask your practice a question, or answer previously unanswerable calls.
